At Bolton NHS Trust, we transformed an open-plan space into a functional and efficient environment. The project included designing and constructing private administrative consultation rooms that ensured confidentiality and comfort.
The office space was refurbished to a high specification, and we had to ensure that the partitions we installed met the high standards of the newly refurbished area. Acoustics were a key element in the design, guaranteeing privacy among the different rooms and promoting confidentiality.
High-quality glazed partitions were used throughout the space to separate the private administration consultation rooms. This design choice allowed natural light to permeate the workspace, creating an open and airy feel.
By maximising the use of natural light, the need for artificial lighting is significantly reduced. This not only lowers energy consumption, leading to cost savings, but also aligns with environmental sustainability goals by decreasing the overall carbon footprint. The design’s emphasis on natural light utilisation demonstrates a commitment to creating an eco-friendly workspace.
Privacy was a key factor in the design. To enhance acoustic privacy, we installed double-glazed partitions with high acoustic performance. Frosted manifestation was applied throughout the glazed partitioning to further enhance privacy while still allowing natural light to filter through the offices. Each door incorporated a lockable feature, enabling confidentiality to remain a priority within each office.
The result is a modern, purpose-built space designed to support both patient services and administrative efficiency. High acoustic glazed partitions ensured privacy was maintained whilst allowing natural light to enhance the open and airy feel of the space.
Natural light plays a significant role in staff wellbeing. It has been shown to improve mood, reduce stress, and increase productivity among employees. By allowing natural light to permeate the workspace, the design not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the environment but also promotes a healthier, more positive atmosphere for the staff. This, in turn, contributes to overall job satisfaction and a better working environment.
